The Duke of Sussex commented that he feels guilty for the relationship so distant that Meghan Markle has with her father, Thomas Markle.
The series 'Harry & Meghan' premiere has caused some havoc due to the revelations that the royal couple has illustrated. From that costume party where Prince Harry dressed as a Nazi soldier, to the racial harassment that Meghan Markle has suffered.
One of the problems that the Duke of Sussex has not overcome is the guilt that he has in his system for the relationship between Meghan Markle and her father, Thomas Markle.
Prince Harry, 38, has expressed his feelings within the series about how little his father-in-law and wife are connected. "It's unbelievably sad," Duke Sussex mentions in the third episode.
Where does Prince Harry's guilt regarding Meghan and Thomas Markle's relationship come from?
Days before her wedding, Meghan Markle, 41, learned that her father, Thomas Markle, 78, staged paparazzi photos with a British outlet and lied about having contact with the press.
After failing to hide his embarrassment at his actions, Thomas Markle did not walk down the aisle on his daughter's arm and decided to skip the royal wedding. In addition to what happened to his wife's father, the Duke of Sussex continues to feel guilty for what happened.
"It's incredibly sad what has happened. She had a father before this and now she doesn't," says Prince Harry in the series, remembering his mother-in-law. "And I've assumed because if Meg wasn't with me, her father would still be her father."
How did Meghan Markle find out that her father had made an alliance with a British media outlet?
After receiving several different messages from the ones her father wrote from the same phone number, Meghan Markle became somewhat desperate to find out what was really happening.
"H (Harry) and I called my father. I said: 'Look, they are saying that you take money from tabloids to stage photos.' He says no," recalls the Duchess of Sussex as she offered to help him get out of his home located in Mexico before being hounded by the media over the soon-to-be-published story.
"And he said, 'No, I have things to do.' He felt very suspicious," Meghan continues in her testimony. "I was like, 'It doesn't make sense.' And when we hung up, I looked at H and I was like, 'I don't know why, but I don't believe him.'
After the suspicions that the Duchess of Sussex had of her, her father contacted her again to tell her that she was in the hospital. However, Thomas did not give her details of what was happening and did not answer her phone either.
Since that moment, Meghan Markle has not seen her parent again.
