Kate Winslet has won the Best Actress award at the television Baftas for her work in the series 'I Am Ruth' where she shares the lead with her daughter, Mia Threapleton. The renowned British actress posed with her daughter on the red carpet of the event where the physical resemblance between them was evident.
The Bafta Television Awards have just been held in London, where the best of the small screen in the United Kingdom has gathered. One of the stars of the night was Kate Winslet who was awarded Best Actress for her performance in the series 'I Am Ruth'.
Kate stars in this drama alongside her own daughter, Mia Threapleton, where Kate plays a concerned mother struggling to help her teenage daughter, Freya, as she is increasingly consumed by social media.
Before winning the Winslet award, she posed on the red carpet at the Bafta with her daughter Mia, where the enormous resemblance between mother and daughter has drawn attention. Such are the similarities between the two even the 22-year-old has inherited the mole that Kate has on her face.
Winslet was emotional as she gave her speech where she began by saying, "It was guaranteed to be a night to cry, I can't watch (my speech)," she commented. She went on to say that "little British TV dramas can be powerful" and that mental health stories like this "need to be heard".
Then the actress wanted to recognize her daughter: "If I could break it in half, I would give the other half to my daughter Mia Threapleton, we did this together, girl."
Mia Threapleton is her eldest daughter and she was born from her first marriage to Jim Threapleton with whom she was from 1998 to 2001. The young woman has followed the same path as her mother and has already done some roles as an actress.
"Acting-wise, she didn't need me at all. There are even moments where she looks at me and she's like, 'Shut up Mom, let me do it!'" Kate Winslet explained, speaking of her daughter.
"It was really amazing working alongside her and really being blown away by her courage...she's very, very powerful. I think this young generation of actors, I have to say there's a naturalism to her performance and they're just more courageous.
