The dance of the 41
This film based on true events focuses on an excerpt from the life of businessman Ignacio de la Torre (Alfonso Herrera), who became the son-in-law of Porfirio Díaz (Fernando Becerril) by marrying his favorite daughter. The marriage soon falls apart when Ignacio decides to live in separate rooms and not sleep at home because he was drinking with a select group of gentlemen from Porfirian high society. Rumors spread in the family and on the street about the protagonist's homos-, maintaining a secret relationship with the politician Evaristo Rivas (Emiliano Zurita).
The scandal really explodes when the police raid a house in the Tabacalera neighborhood of Mexico City: there they run into a party with 41 men, several of them dressed as women. Among the people who are arrested, that night is the husband of the president's daughter.
The Danish Girl
Denmark, the 1920s. The painter couple Einar (Eddie Redmayne) and Gerda Wegener (Alicia Vikander) enjoy their success. One day, by chance, the model she has hired to portray in her paintings has had to cancel the appointment and the artist needs to finish those paintings on time. So that she can finish her work, the painter asks her husband if she wouldn't mind putting on women's stockings and shoes for a few moments, to which he agrees without a problem. This revelation will trigger the awakening of a long-hidden longing for Einar: his desire to be a woman.
At first, they find this game exciting and fun, when the portraits turn out to be a success, she encourages her husband to adopt a feminine appearance. Afterward, everything will not be so nice for Einar, that he realizes that she feels like a woman inside. The life of the couple will take a huge turn and the birth of a female identity in Einar's male body will cause many problems in their relationship.
In his fight to do justice to his inner self, Einar will become Lili Elbe, and his final decision will be to undergo an s- change operation, thus becoming a pioneer in transgender culture and one of the first to undergo surgery and change s-. This drama based on the true story of this Danish artist couple, protagonists of one of the most unusual love stories of the early 20th century, is a screenplay by Lucinda Coxon based on David Ebershoff's novel of the same name.
Silver Skates
It is a Russian adventure film with a great romantic charge. On the frigid rivers and canals of St. Petersburg, a roller-skating crook tempers the heart of a young aristocrat, despite the forces that try to tear them apart.
The film is based on the homonymous text by Mary Mapes Dodge, although it is also part of the Romeo and Juliet tradition by telling the story of a love that is not approved by social and class differences. It features performances by Feodor Fedotov, Sofya Priss, Kirill Zaytsev, and, Yuri Borisov.
The Book store
England, 1959. Florence Green (Emily Mortimer) is the widow of a soldier who fought during World War II and decides to settle in a small and conservative coastal town in the British countryside.
