Michael Cera confessed to feeling depressed after filming

Thirteen years after its theatrical release, Scott Pilgrim remains one of the defining roles of Michael Cera's film career. And the actor's enthusiasm for his role in the Edgar Wright film has not diminished in the least.

Michael Cera confessed to feeling depressed after filming

In a new interview, Cera took a trip down memory lane and revisited some of his most iconic roles. When the conversation inevitably turned to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Cera spoke fondly of his work with Wright and his all-star cast on the adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's hit graphic novel series.

"We had a great vibe with everyone," Cera said. "I think Edgar brought that energy to us. We all rehearsed together and spent a lot of time together before we started shooting the movie."

The star, who was recently seen in Barbie, revealed that he had a hard time adjusting to life after filming and said he was "a little bit down" when he wrapped production.

"Everything disappears and you're like: 'Where has everyone gone?'" said the actor, adding that "I could have kept doing that movie forever, even if it was exhausting."

Cera and the rest of the cast recently got a chance to return to the franchise when they reprised their roles for the upcoming anime adaptation Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, which begins streaming on Netflix in November. Wright, who serves as an executive producer on the series, recently spoke about the joy of reuniting the cast for the film.

"One of the most rewarding and proud accomplishments of my career has been assembling and working with the cast of Scott Pilgrim," Wright said in a statement announcing the series.

"Since the film's initial release back in 2010, we've engaged in Q&A sessions, retrospectives, and charitable readings. However, the opportunity to reunite the entire band for a substantial project has remained elusive—until now. The visionary mind behind the original concept, Bryan Lee O'Malley, in collaboration with screenwriter Ben David Grabinski, has ingeniously crafted a Scott Pilgrim anime series that not only breathes new life into the universe but also... well, I'll let you witness it for yourself. With immense delight, I'm thrilled to announce that I've played a part in rallying the complete original cast to lend their voices once more to these beloved characters in this monumental, fresh escapade. An incredible journey awaits you, and I have no doubt it will be an absolute blast," proclaimed the director.
