Nicolas Cage, It was while they were filming the western “The Old Way”.
The actor yelled at Hannah Gutierrez-Reed for not following protocol. "You burst my fu-king eardrums," she yelled at him offended.
Amid the investigation into the tragic accident that Alec Baldwin starred in on the set of Rust, new details emerged about several members of the production who played a key role in the safety of the cast.
One of the names that most resonate with the authorities is that of Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the 24-year-old girl who was in charge of the film's armory. Now, an incident was leaked that she had on another shoot with Nicolas Cage, who yelled at her in front of everyone for shooting without warning.
Why Nicolas Cage yelled at the gunsmith in "Rust" before Alec Baldwin's accident
As detailed by TMZ, the discussion took place in the recording of The Old Way, Cage's first western that will be released in theaters next year. While on set in Montana, the gunsmith fired a gun twice near the cast without warning anyone. Something that not only generated surprise among the staff members but also a strong physical annoyance due to the noise.
Another source consulted by TMZ revealed that Cage was not the only one who got angry with the young gunsmith. According to the entertainment site, another person spoke to the assistant director and asked him to remove Gutierrez-Reed from the film.
However, one of the producers of The Old Way denied that this discussion took place and that the accounts of what happened on set are being "destinate".
For now, Cage preferred not to comment or say anything about what happened.
The assistant who gave the gun to Alec Baldwin had already been accused of an accident on a set
Gutierrez-Reed wasn't the only one targeted for Alec Baldwin's accident. The assistant director who handed the actor the gun had a bad reputation from a previous incident that occurred during filming in 2019.
This is Dave Halls. "He was fired from Freedom's Path after a team member suffered a minor injury when a gun unexpectedly went off," a producer of that yet-to-be-released film told AFP. And he added: "The production did not return to filming until Dave was off location."
According to the first investigations into the Rust accident, Halls was the one who handed over the gun to Baldwin and who yelled that it was “cold” – movie slang for a gun that is unloaded. Confident by this indication, the actor shot and accidentally killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.
