The 19-year-old Robert De Niro's grandson died of an overdose the first week of July.
Last week one of the biggest actors in Hollywood, Robert De Niro, dressed in mourning to say goodbye to his grandson, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, just 19 years old. That meant a very hard blow for the movie legend and also for his daughter, Drena De Niro.
It was the teenager's mother and then the actor who made the sad news known through a few words on their social networks, and days later, the woman who had just lost her son had to bring to light the sad cause of her death.
As determined by the medical examiner, the grandson of Robert De Niro died of an overdose taking pills adulterated with fentanyl, a combination that many know is deadly. "Someone sold him pills that had fentanyl, they knew what they were doing and sold them anyway… For those people who alter those damn pills and sell them, my son is gone forever," Drena De Niro had published through his social networks.
New information recently came to light about the tragic death of Leo, who was living in New York City at the time of the event. As confirmed by TMZ, they arrested a person related to the case.
The New York City Police Department is in custody of a 20-year-old woman who reportedly sold the pills to Robert De Niro's grandson. Although the suspect has already been prosecuted, so far the charges against her are unknown.
While it is estimated that in the next few hours, there is more information about it and the identity of the suspect is finally revealed, Drena De Niro continues to grieve for the loss of her son Leo, remembering it with several posts on her social networks.
