Michael Lohan was arrested for a complicated scheme of collecting bribes from drug addicts.
Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, was arrested this Friday in Palm Beach, Florida, for referring addicts to drug centers in exchange for illegally collecting commissions of more than $25,000, authorities have confirmed.
60-year-old Michael Lohan has been arrested after investigations in Palm Beach where he was involved in illegally brokering patients with addictions. Lindsay Lohan's father is the 117th arrest in a long list of those accused of receiving bribes for referring patients to drug addiction treatment.
According to the prosecutor's official investigator, Dave Aronberg, he has said: "Mr. Lohan was investigated by our Sober Home Task Force and is being accused of receiving kickbacks for referring patients to drug treatment," adding: "The brokerage of patients corrupts our healthcare system because decisions are motivated by greed rather than patient needs.”
According to court documents, Michael Lohan raised money by referring addicts to Pride Recovery Center in Delray Beach between 2017 and 2018. One of those addicts was a woman he referred to Pride Recovery while he was having a "sexual relationship" with her, the arrest warrant says.
The actress's father has a criminal record dating back to 1990 when he was imprisoned for contempt of court and also has a history of having relationships with women victims of addiction, such as Lindsay's own mother, Dina. According to the New York Post, Lohan was arrested for physically abusing his then-wife Kate Major. Mr. Lohan faces four counts of patient brokering and one count of conspiracy.
