Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, who married over 40 years old

For love there is no age or time, some find their soul mate when they are young, and others when they grow up. The royals are no strangers to this and two of them married after turning 40 with whom they still continue, but their love lives were not easy: both had to go through a controversial past.

Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles

Prince Charles first married Lady Di when he was 33 years old and she was 20, and together they had two children: Prince William and Harry. The relationship was involved in conflicts from the beginning when the Princess of Wales found out that her husband was still in love with Camilla Parker Bowles, who had always been her lover.

Unable to save the marriage and knowing that Prince Charles would never fall in love with her, Lady Di filed for divorce in 1996. Since then both began a life separately and the heir to the throne was able to freely live his love for Camilla Parker Bowles, who moved to Clarence House in 2003.

Two years later, when Charles was 57 years old and Camilla was 58, they announced their engagement and married in a civil ceremony at Windsor Castle. There was no religious ceremony because they were both divorced, but there was a mass in St. George's Chapel attended by the entire family, including their children, William and Harry on behalf of the prince, and Laura and Tom on behalf of the new royal

Automatically, Camilla Parker Bowles was given the title Princess of Wales, but Queen Elizabeth II reported that she would be known as Duchess of Cornwall. The reason for this decision had to do with the death of Lady Di, who to this day continues to be remembered as Princess of Wales, and was a gesture of respect for her memory.

Albert II of Monaco and Charlene of Monaco

The sovereign of Monaco had very discreet relationships with models such as Brooke Shields, Claudia Schiffer, and Tasha de Vasconcelos, but his long single status gave rise to numerous rumors. He also had two children who were the result of short-lived relationships: Jazmin Grace Rotolo, born in 1992, and Alexandre Éric Stéphane, born in 2003.

Both young people enjoyed financial support from the Principality and attended the best schools, but they were not granted inheritance rights because Monegasque law excludes children born out of wedlock from such privilege. Furthermore, Alexandre's birth was since at that time, Albert II was already in a relationship with Charlene.

After overcoming this crisis, Albert II and Charlene married in 2011, when he was 53 years old and the former swimmer was 33, in the Throne Room of the Grimaldi Palace. The honeymoon was in South Africa, Charlene's native country, and in 2014 their twins and only children together were born: Gabriela and Jaime from Monaco.
