During an interview, Scarlett Johansson revealed that she almost didn't play Black Widow and that the role was intended for Emily Blunt. But luck was on her hand, because Blunt did not accept the character due to problems in her schedule and because she thought that female roles in superhero movies are undervalued and only seen as “the girlfriend of the guy who saves the world.”. But when Emily Blunt decided not to play Black Widow in Iron Man 2, Scarlett jumped at the chance. The big factor that ended up deciding that she would keep the role, was the acceptance from Jon Favreau and Kevin Feige. The actress fits perfectly with the personal vision of both. In the interview, Scarlett Johansson also talked about the new solo movie that she is preparing for her character. Which, according to her, gave her the closure she needed for Natasha after Avengers: Endgame.
“It's a film about self-forgiveness and it's a film about family. I think in life, we come of age and we have these moments where you're in a transition phase and then you're way beyond that. I think in the Black Widow movie, the character where we meet him is in a real moment of crisis.
