Dakota Johnson talks about how she felt about filming scenes in Fifty Shades

However, it's impossible to overlook the role that catapulted her to fame: 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' Despite her success, Johnson has always been candid about her experiences within the franchise, particularly the less glamorous moments during the steamy scenes.

While Dakota Johnson now stands as one of the most sought-after talents in Hollywood, her journey to this point is forever intertwined with her past in the 'Fifty Shades' saga. The erotic trilogy, adapted from E.L. James' books, was an unprecedented phenomenon that propelled the careers of both Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, each of whom has since embarked on intriguing career paths.

Johnson has chosen projects that allow her to showcase her versatility while maintaining the candid and sincere persona that has earned her recognition, even for her famous confrontation with Ellen DeGeneres.

However, reaching this point was far from easy, as the years spent in the 'Fifty Shades' universe had their ups and downs, quite literally. Both stars have openly acknowledged the challenges they faced during the making of the films.

Dakota Johnson reminisces, "The most challenging scene by far, I believe, out of the three movies, was a particularly intimate encounter in the third installment where I was bound, handcuffed by my arms and legs to the headboard. It's like a downward-sloping bed. I was also blindfolded. It was quite a shock because, no matter how prepared you are or how much you rehearse, when you're stripped of your senses like that, you can't predict how your nervous system will react."

She also sheds light on the unconventional way they covered themselves for such scenes. "I had these adhesive strapless thongs. They were essentially like sticky pads." However, she candidly admits that the adhesive often failed to hold up throughout the entire shoot, leading to the use of superglue. "I would apply two at a time. It's not painful, more like a slight discomfort, but it creates a sense of coverage. It's quite unusual," she explains.

As for their preparation for these challenging scenes, Johnson discloses, "Most of our preparation is about planning the scene meticulously beforehand, so there's minimal downtime while we're in a vulnerable state. However, if something proves to be exceptionally difficult, sometimes a shot of something strong is needed beforehand." Dakota Johnson's frankness in sharing these details offers a glimpse into the less glamorous aspects of a highly successful film franchise.
