Initially, she harbored doubts about taking on the role of Phoebe Buffay, but Lisa Kudrow's uncertainty vanished when she decided to take an online quiz to determine which "Friends" character she most resembled.
Despite becoming one of the beloved actresses in the series "Friends" thanks to her portrayal of Phoebe Buffay, it might surprise you to learn that Lisa Kudrow didn't originally audition for that role but for Rachel Green instead.
During an interview on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," the Emmy Award-winning actress admitted that she was actually drawn to a different character that catapulted Jennifer Aniston to fame.
"It's quite amusing because when I first perused the 'Friends' script, and I was preparing to audition for Phoebe, I took one look at Rachel and thought, 'Oh, she's like a Jewish-American princess from Long Island, that could be really hilarious. I can relate to that more.' But they insisted, 'No, no. It's Phoebe,'" Lisa Kudrow revealed.
Initially, Lisa Kudrow had reservations about playing Phoebe Buffay, but her doubts dissipated when she decided to take an online personality quiz to determine which character from the series suited her best:
"I thought I was answering questions that would lead me to Phoebe," she recalled. "Favorite color? Yellow! Or questions like 'Who would you like to go on a date with?' 'Sponge Bob!' So, yes, Phoebe," she chuckled.
Regarding "Friends: The Reunion," Lisa Kudrow expressed her excitement for the highly anticipated reunion special scheduled to premiere on HBO Max on May 27 in the United States:
"It had been 17 years since our last show, and we hadn't all been in the same room for five or six years," she shared with Colbert. "And then, Covid caused so many delays, so it was... it was thrilling and a bit emotional," she added.
Kudrow also expressed gratitude for the producers' meticulous recreation of the set for the reunion: "I think we were supposed to be excited to see the set, and everyone was, except me because I was most eager to see the people," she concluded.
