Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer liked each other in real life during the first season of Friends

“Friends: The Reunion” premiered last Thursday the 27th on the HBO Max digital platform. After 17 years, the remembered friends return to the set that saw their acting careers take off on television and film. Memories, anecdotes, and details never revealed before were the reason for the cast's special reunion.

One of these surprising confessions was that of David Schwimmer, who gave life to Ross in “Friends”, about his first crush behind the scenes. When asked by James Corden whether any of them were romantically involved in the filming, the actor responded with a statement.

He confessed that he truly developed a deep affection for Jen during the inaugural season. He went on to describe the friendship and professional connection with Jennifer Aniston, famous for her role as Rachel in the fictional world, as mutually cherished. Despite their on-screen characters sharing kisses and displaying various signs of affection, their romantic involvement never materialized.

David Schwimmer candidly disclosed, "It felt like two ships passing in the night because one of us was always in a relationship, and we never crossed that boundary. We have a great deal of respect for that." Playfully, his colleague Matt LeBlanc chimed in, saying, "He's lying!" which elicited a round of applause from the audience.

Emmy winner Jennifer Aniston recounts what she said to her co-star during the first season: “It's going to be a bummer if the first time you and I kiss is on national television.” Just as she predicted, they first kissed in that cafeteria on set: “We channeled all our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.”
