Starting her career in films like Strictley Business, Boomerang and The Flintstones, Berry's career would skyrocket with the film, Swordfish, where she shared the screen with fellow newcomer Hugh Jackman.

Catwoman - The movie that almost ended Halle Berry's career

From here she began to receive projects such as the award-winning Monster Ball, with which she won the Oscar for Best Actress. And in much more recent roles, we saw her less than a year ago as John Wick's dumbbell in the third installment of the saga, and in a fairly secondary role in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Seeing as Ms. Berry has had some very good times, why isn't she heard from like before? Of the last productions in which she participated and that was very popular, it was in the adaptation of Cloud Atlas, but from then on it seemed that the glory years as Bond Girl were behind her... why?

Not only is the actress's talent undeniable, but her life has also shown us how strong she is, living in homeless shelters at the beginning of her career, and other complicated situations. But none of that was enough to save her after the film nonsense called Cat... cat... ufff, sorry, but saying that name makes one's stomach turn...

A year before the first part of The Dark Knight trilogy, masterfully directed by Christopher Nolan, hit our theaters, DC and Warner Bros. wanted to bring one of the most beloved characters to the big screen once again. from the Batman universe.

Played by '60s legends like Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt, Catwoman is one of the most beloved characters in comics. But it wouldn't be until Michelle Pfeiffer put on the tight leather suit that her character took on a whole new meaning:

Originally, Batman's sweetheart would have had his own movies since the '90s, with Michelle Pfeiffer returning to don the suit and the whip.

But several delays and the fact that Batman & Robin destroyed the Dark Knight's credibility, the Catwoman movie ended up in so-called 'Development Hell', with multiple actresses attached to the project.

It wouldn't be until they decided to return to one of the character's most famous appearances that they cast Halle Berry as the new Selina Kyle. However, problems began almost immediately with the arrival of her director, Jean-Christophe Comar, aka Pitof, who wanted to make his own version of the character and... well.

Although Tim Burton's version differs quite a bit from the comics, giving a more mystical aura to his origin and connection with cats, the character does not clash with the Batman mythology.

Despite wanting to make his own version, Pitoff took Burton's elements and literally attributed the origin to mystical reasons, with an emissary of the Egyptian Goddess, Bast, bringing her to life and... even your head hurts thinking about it. If that wasn't enough, the damned man even stole the idea that Selina was a submissive and nervous woman, unable to defend herself from the abuse of others... like Tim Burton did in Batman: Returns!

And it's not that Halle Berry couldn't play a role like that; In fact, her interpretation is the only halfway salvageable thing from this headless disaster. Also, instead of a corrupt businessman with a view to becoming mayor, Catwoman now faced a businesswoman in the makeup world who feels nothing... because her makeup destroyed his nerves.

To make matters worse, Sharon Stone had to be the bad guy in one of her least inspired performances.

And so as not to continue adding fuel to the fire, let's just say that the film was released in 2004 and became one of the most hated films by critics.

In fact, many predicted that Batman's return would be the same as this thing, but fortunately, Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale showed us otherwise.

In addition to receiving hate from critics, Catwoman took home many of that year's Razzie Awards. Despite being the best of the entire film, the beautiful Halle Berry won the award for best actress. But showing that she does not get upset, she accepted the recognition as the greats.

Now, this 'Catwoman' baton will be passed to Zoe Kravitz for the next Batman installment that will be released in 2021. This adaptation is directed by Matt Reeves, and Lenny's daughter will share the scene with Robert Pattinson and Colin Farrell.
