Nearly a week has passed since Charisma Carpenter leveled serious accusations against Joss Whedon for ongoing mistreatment on the sets of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel.'
While Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg swiftly joined the criticism, male actors from both series took their time to address the allegations. Recently, David Boreanaz and James Masters, who portrayed Angel and Spike—two pivotal characters in Whedon's universe—have publicly expressed their support for Carpenter.
Boreanaz and Masters, synonymous with their iconic roles, opted for different approaches in sharing their solidarity. Boreanaz took to Twitter with a succinct message, stating, "I am here to listen to you and support you. Proud of your strength." Carpenter expressed gratitude for the public and private support from Boreanaz, emphasizing the actor's encouragement since her initial revelation.
Masters, in a more expansive tweet echoing sentiments similar to Gellar's earlier statement, acknowledged that the 'Buffy' set was not immune to problems. He stated, "Although I will always feel honored to have played Spike, the set of Buffy was not free of problems. I do not support any type of abuse, and it breaks my heart to learn about the experiences of some of the cast. I send my love and support to everyone involved."
Nicholas Brendon, known for his role as Xander in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' chose not to comment immediately, revealing on Facebook, "I'm not going to talk about Joss yet. It's very personal to me, so I'll do it when I'm ready."
Brendon, currently dealing with health issues, refrained from taking a stance, expressing hope for healing and personal growth for Whedon. He acknowledged past violations, including his own experiences, while emphasizing a nuanced perspective on the complex dynamics within the industry.
