Her last appearance in the MCU was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the sequel to Doctor Strange where she played the main villain. With an uncertain fate, it is still unknown what Wanda's future will be on the Marvel screen.
On multiple occasions, the actress has been consulted about the future of her character, without giving certainty about her potential return. But in her last public appearance, Olsen revealed a detail that left fans speechless.
The actress made an appearance on the Today show to promote her new series Love and Death, which will soon premiere on HBO. However, the actress was consulted about the future of her character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the actress' response was not what fans wanted to hear.
When asked by the show's hosts, Olsen began by saying that it was difficult for her to answer the question since her words always end up being taken out of context. From there, the actress said that at the moment she "has no idea" what will happen to Scarlet Witch in the MCU, but she "hopes" she can return. Olsen's statements make it clear that her contract with Marvel Studios ended with her appearance in the Doctor Strange sequel. At the end of said film, the Scarlet Witch appears to have passed away, so one of the possibilities is that her character is finished.
In the past, the actress explained that she usually signs "contract extensions" whenever Marvel wants a new appearance from the actress. Since the studio is working on putting together Phases 5 and 6, it is possible that they will soon announce the return of Wanda Maximoff, or they may simply be keeping her return a secret and thus surprise fans.
One of the projects that Marvel is actively working on is Agatha: Coven of Chaos, the spin-off of WandaVision that will star Agatha Harkness, the character played by Kathryn Hahn. Many fans speculate that Olsen could have an appearance in said fiction.
In the month of July, a new edition of the San Diego Comic-Con will be held where the studio usually makes big announcements about its future projects. It is possible that in the coming months there will be news about the future of the Scarlet Witch and her return to the MCU.
