Lindsay Lohan's recent controversial statement has stirred up social media, as the actress criticized the #MeToo feminist movement, suggesting that reports of abuse within the film industry portray women as weak.
Lohan asserted that she has never encountered discrimination or s---al harassment in the entertainment world, emphasizing that she can't speak on experiences she hasn't had.
Expressing her disagreement with victims publicly disclosing abuse, especially long after its occurrence, Lohan commented, "I think when women speak out against all these things they seem weak, when in reality women are very strong."
She further remarked on individuals who come forward for attention, stating, "You have these girls who show up like that, you don't even know who they are, and they do it to get attention." Lohan suggested that reporting the aggression promptly is the solution, emphasizing that discussing it at the time of the incident is crucial. The actress, currently residing in Mykonos, Greece, emphasized the importance of turning such incidents into police reports.
Lohan's statements triggered swift and intense reactions on social media, with hundreds of women expressing their opposing views. Criticism on Twitter included remarks like, "How? That Lindsay Lohan considers herself an activist when she hits one of the most significant movements in the history of women around the world?" Another message challenged Lohan's perspective, saying, "If I'm weak for being part of the #MeToo movement and speaking out against my abuser, how do you look when you talk about it? Like an idiot who has no idea what it's like to survive s---al abuse. Please shut up and stay at home from now on."
This isn't the first time Lohan has taken a controversial stance on such issues. About a year ago, she defended Harvey Weinstein, a film producer accused of abuse by several women, expressing sympathy and claiming that she felt bad for him.
