More than 100 players joined a survey carried out by a North American media to choose the most outstanding basketball player in the league.
In the NBA world they always wonder who was the best player of all time. With several candidates available, basketball players who left a mark and marked an era in the most famous basketball league on the planet, it seems that the players themselves have already chosen their GOAT (the acronym that means "Greatest of All Time", that is, the best of all times)
According to a survey carried out by The Athletic, an American media specialized in sports, Michael Jordan won the vote with 73 percent of the votes in which 122 players who are currently part of the NBA participated. Behind him, in second place, was LeBron James (11.9%) and Kobe Bryant finished in third place (10.6%).
In addition, others who added votes were Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1.7%), the man who leads the list of top scorers in NBA history with 38,387 points. The rest who received votes were Magic Johnson, historic point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers who won five championships in the 1980s; Allen Iverson, one of the best players in the history of the Philadelphia 76ers; and Kevin Durant, two-time league title winner with the Golden State Warriors. They all added 1 percent in the vote.
Michael Jordan knew how to dominate an era of the NBA. Under his leadership, and accompanied by Scottie Pippen, the Chicago Bulls won six NBA championships in eight years. After seven seasons at the helm of the franchise (he was chosen in third place in the NBA Draft in 2018), he managed to win the title against Magic Johnson's Lakers in '91. Then came two more in a row, in '92. against the Portland Trail Blazers and a year later they beat Charles Barkley's Phoenix Suns in the league finals.
After the murder of his father, a situation that affected him significantly, Jordan retired from basketball to try his luck at baseball, his father's favorite sport. After two seasons on a second-tier team, he returned to the NBA to confirm that he was the best of an era. With the Bulls he won the three-time championship 96-97-98 and said goodbye for the second time. In 2001, number 23 returned to the scene: he joined the Washington Wizards to play his last two seasons in the NBA.
Chosen 14 times to play in the All-Star game, he was chosen as the most valuable player of the regular season on five occasions, and also won the same award six times, one for each of the definitions he won with the Bulls.
After 2003, the NBA has seen great players. Among them are James, a three-time champion, and Bryant, winner of five titles with the Lakers. Driven by the press, in the mouths of public opinion, the question of who is the best player of all time is always latent. It seems that now, the protagonists of the most famous league in the world made their choice.
