The truth behind the drama between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall

The truth is that there is a big confrontation between the actresses and this would be the main reason why the star would have decided to leave the project.

S-x and the City fans got the best news to start the year when Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis took to Instagram by surprise to announce that the super friends were back.

The series of 6 seasons and 2 movies, which premiered for the first time on June 6, 1998, tells the story of 4 friends, Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Nixon), Samantha (Cattrall) and Charlotte (Davis) who live in New York and that despite their differences and their ever-changing s-x lives, they stay together through the ups and downs.

The fashion details and beautiful postcards of New York were not the only themes that made the series on everyone's lips. Strong rumors of confrontations between two of its stars, Parker and Cattrall, put S-x and the City in the main gossip tabloids around the world. Jealousy, money and mistreatment are some of the themes that kept the friendship between Carrie and Samantha from going beyond the screen.

But what really happened between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall?

After the success of the 1st season, Sarah Jessica Parker acquired the title of executive producer, raising her salary to that of the other protagonists. This difference generated disagreement in Kim Cattrall who also negotiated an increase in her salary. According to thetelegraph.com, Kim's attitude and constant comparison with Sarah Jessica Parker was not seen well by the rest of the actresses, starting a cut between the sides of Parker, Nixon and Davis and that of Cattrall, to the point that they did not sit down with her not even to eat.

In 2004 during an interview on the show Friday Night With Jonathan Ross and after 6 seasons, Kim admitted that money was a problem when negotiating the contract for the seventh season. “I felt that after six years it was time for us all to participate in the financial windfall of S-x and the City. When they didn't seem interested in it, I thought it was time to move on.” Despite her words, she left open the possibility of playing Samantha again when she was asked if she would participate in the film. “If the deal was right and the script was great, I would absolutely do it.”

Her words and good negotiation were what allowed the first S-x and the City movie to be released in 2008, paving the way for the second.

In 2009 and during the filming of the second film, rumors of rivalry were again present and The New York Post published an article in which they stated that the two actresses did not speak to each other, to the point that they made everyone uncomfortable on the set.

These rumors were denied by Parker in several interviews where she stated that the gossip was juicier if the protagonists had a bad relationship and even called it s---st when they only asked the female protagonists if they had a bad or good relationship with each other and not the men. . To everyone's surprise, Cattrall supported Parker when in an interview with Daily Mail she said: “I think Sarah was right, people don't want to believe that we get along. They've invested too much in the idea of two strong, successful women fighting for each other. The truth is that we are friends and we get along well and we do our jobs happily together is not nearly as newsworthy. I think Sarah is fantastic. She is a born leader and guides the crew and cast in such a strong but gentle way. She and I are sick of this. It’s exhausting to talk about, and really boring.”

S-x and the City 2 was a success and the producers together with Warner Bros. had a 3rd film in mind that unfortunately had to be canceled due to Kim Cattrall's demands. According to Daily Mail, the 64-year-old actress only agreed to participate in the film if Warner Bros. committed to producing other films she had in development. Unfortunately, the studios denied this request, thus canceling the entire production since they did not consider it fair for the fans to make the film with only three of the four protagonists.
