Biographer Omid Scobie, known for his work on Prince Harry, has unveiled startling revelations suggesting that Prince William orchestrated a campaign to spread false information about his younger brother, deepening the rift between the royal siblings.
According to Scobie, the deterioration in William and Harry's relationship can be traced back to the Duke of Cambridge's office, which allegedly initiated a deliberate effort to plant stories regarding Prince Harry's mental state. The journalist contends that this orchestrated campaign coincided with Harry's public acknowledgment of their estrangement during an interview in 2019.
Following the revealing interview, where Harry and Meghan discussed their challenges within the royal family, local press reports emerged, claiming that William was "concerned about Harry's mental health." Scobie asserts that these rumors were strategically planted by William's staff, though the direct involvement of the Duke remains unconfirmed.
In a documentary airing on ITV, titled "Harry & William: What Went Wrong?," Scobie emphasizes Meghan's arrival as a motivated and independent force, unsettling the established order within the royal family. He suggests that Meghan's refusal to conform to traditional expectations created tension, with the royal family reminded of its hierarchical structure.
Robert Lacey, author of "Battle of Brothers," notes that someone close to William perceived Meghan as having an agenda from the beginning. Royal biographer Penny Junor expresses early concerns about Meghan's impact, stating that she had heard negative stories about Meghan upsetting people and not living up to her charming public image.
While the brothers set aside their differences for a tribute to Princess Diana on July 1, their public appearance marked the first time since Prince Philip's funeral. The event showcased a bronze statue of Diana in Kensington Palace's Sunken Garden, designed by Pip Morrison, attended by Prince William, Prince Harry, and Diana's immediate family.
Amid speculations about a potential return to the UK in September, Prince Harry is currently residing in California with Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet Diana. The reported absence of Queen Elizabeth II, Kate Middleton, and Prince Charles at the statue unveiling fueled rumors of ongoing tensions within the royal family.
