Britney Spears' father breaks his silence to vindicate the guardianship to which he subjected the singer

In an interview, he expressed regret over Britney's insults, stating, “She has treated me worse than a damn dog. It's been a hellish time. But I love my daughter with all my heart and soul.”

On September 30, 2021, Britney Spears finally gained freedom after enduring 13 years of strict legal guardianship under her father, James Jamie Spears.

The court ruling affirmed the concerns raised by the #FreeBritney movement, alleging that Jamie took advantage of Britney's psychiatric admission in 2008 to control every aspect of her life and her fortune, valued at $60 million at the end of the guardianship. However, Jamie Spears presents a different perspective on the situation.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Jamie contends that the guardianship "saved the life" of his daughter, asserting that it enabled him to regain custody of Britney's two children after her divorce. He emphasized that the guardianship was a crucial tool for protecting Britney and her children, contrary to the narrative put forth by the #FreeBritney movement, which he dismisses as "a joke led by conspiracy theorists."

Britney Spears faced a public crisis in 2007 following her divorce from dancer Kevin Federline. She underwent a highly publicized period of turmoil, including shaving her head, assaulting a photographer's car, and hospitalization for substance abuse. Jamie Spears argues that the guardianship was necessary, citing Britney's squandering of money before its establishment: "She was ruined. She did not have money. The conservatorship allowed finances to improve."

In the interview, Jamie expressed the pain of losing contact with his grandchildren, Sean Preston (16) and Jayden James (15), acknowledging the family's challenging situation. He revealed that the estrangement from his grandchildren resulted from accusations of assault against him by the minors.

Despite acknowledging the strained relationship with his daughter, Jamie Spears maintains his love for Britney, defending himself against the insults and accusations launched by Britney on social media. He explains that he allowed people to speak ill of him over the years to protect Britney, stating, "I don't mind getting that beating because I know it's not true and because I don't want to start another fight."

The interview also delves into Jamie's past struggles with alcoholism and reports of being "abusive" during Britney's childhood. Currently residing in rural Louisiana with Britney's sister, Jamie Lynn, Jamie Spears reflects on his life, not far from where Britney grew up.

Meanwhile, Britney Spears has seized her newfound freedom, engaging in various activities, including recording a song with Elton John, marrying Iranian coach Sam Asghari, and documenting her global travels on Instagram. Despite her emancipation, Britney remains embroiled in a legal battle with her father over the aftermath of the guardianship, as well as strained relationships with her sister, brother, mother, and her two children. The minors themselves, in a television interview with their father, expressed their desire for Britney's mental improvement before reconnecting with her.
