Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie have become one of cinema's favorite duos thanks to their work on Barbie.
Greta Gerwig talked about her work with Margot Robbie on the long-awaited Barbie movie. The Oscar-nominated director had nothing but praise for the actress who will play the most popular doll in the world on the big screen.
On the occasion, the director of Lady Bird and Little Women revealed what she refused to do with the actress during filming. Something she described as "scary" and a true "nightmare."
What Greta Gerwig refused to do in Barbie
In conversation with The Project, as reported by Variety, Greta Gerwig spoke about some of the scenes she recorded with Margot Robbie for Barbie. In this regard, she revealed that she refused something that the production suggested: Use CGI on the actress's feet.
As she explained, she was given the idea of using CGI to be able to film the scene of Barbie's arched feet. However, the director found the idea gruesome and she did not want to digitally edit her feet in order to achieve the scene.
"There was a big discussion at the beginning. Everyone was like, 'Are you going to use CGI on her entire foot?' And I thought, 'God, no. That's terrifying! That would be a nightmare,'" the Barbie director explained of how little he liked this idea.
"And Margot has the most beautiful feet. She has beautiful dancer's feet. She could just hold on to a bar and do it like that," Greta Gerwig continued about how they decided to film the scene with Margot Robbie without the need for digital editing on her feet.
Previously, Margot Robbie had already clarified how the viral Barbie feet scene was filmed. As the actress explained, it took about eight shots to make this moment that conquered fans with just the trailer.
"I held on to a bar, so I was steady. We put a tape on the floor so the shoes would stay in place," Margot Robbie explained about how they filmed this viral Barbie scene.
