Hawn and Russell had a child together, but have never married. "Marriage is a prelude to divorce," she once said.

"We've created a union, a family, and our lives are very stable," Hawn explained. "There is a feeling of passion between us and a piece of paper will never change that."

"We celebrate our relationship all the time," Hwan added.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest

Jamie Lee Curtis met Christopher Guest in a very peculiar way.

"I knew my husband was the one for me as soon as I saw a picture of him in a magazine," Curtis said. "I gave my number to his people and luckily he called."

After searching for a comedic actor for the film "This Is Spinal Tap," the couple married in 1984.

Curtis, who is known for films such as "A Fish Called Wanda" and "Freaky Friday," said the longevity of her marriage is due to "maturing, mutual waiting, and mutual growth."

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson met on the set of the comedy "Bosom Buddies" and married in 1988.

"Rita has taught me what love is," Hanks said of his second wife. "People say that staying married is really hard work. No, it's not! Not if you really like the person!"

Hanks won two Oscars, while she appeared in numerous television shows and movies and even produced some of them.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick

Kyra and Kevin met in 1987 on the set of a television series and married the following year.

"I have a marriage that's solid," Sedgwick said in 2003. "I don't know why it worked, I guess we just love each other."

"The kids and I join Kevin on set if he's filming away so we don't spend much time apart."

Sedgwick acknowledged that marrying and having children young meant she missed out on several roles.

But she returned to work in the last decade thanks to the TV crime drama "The Closer," while he starred in "Apollo 13" and "X-Men: First Class."

John Travolta and Kelly Preston

Preston saw Travolta in "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever" and told her dance instructor, "I'm going to marry the man in the movie."

After moving to California, the actress worked with Travolta in 1989 in the film "The Experts." They fell in love and married in 1991.

The couple, both practitioners of Scientology, suffered the tragic death of their son Jett in 2009.

In a 2001 interview, Travolta credited the counselor's role in marriage. "In Scientology, we have what's called a chaplain," he said.

"Basically (it is), where you sit down with a third party and negotiate, and work to resolve conflicts."
