Meghan Markle is described as the UK's number one social climber

After her appearance in the final of the US Open to support her friend Serena Williams, Meghan Markle once again makes headlines and is the topic of global conversation after a British magazine placed her in first position in a list of " social climbers".

The new mother occupies the first position on the list made by the society magazine Tatler, which also includes John Bercow, Jerry Hall, Keith Tyson, Sharon White, Loretta Basey, Jamie Redknapp, Richard Caring, Teddy Williams and Kent Adonai.

“The top of the fattened stick. It's not your typical rags-to-riches story (she was privately educated and her dad won an Emmy for lighting direction), but in Ralph & Russo (the brand of the dress she wore in her official engagement photos) she found the role that “It suited him perfectly: the rude element to drag the royal family into the 21st century,” the publication argues about the appointment given to Meghan.

On previous occasions, television presenter Piers Morgan has spoken about this new social status of Meghan, completely agreeing with the aforementioned magazine. “Although some people really like Meghan, I'm afraid I see a bit of an actress in her. She has been using people on her way to what is now, of course, the top,” Morgan said during an interview for Australian television in March of this year.

Morgan was friends with the former actress until 2016, when he met Prince Harry at a party. According to the Daily Mail, Meghan would have arrived at that celebration in a taxi and, the next day, she already had a date with Lady Di and Carlos's second son.

Shortly after, Harry and they announced their engagement and in May 2018 the famous royal wedding occurred. As a consequence, the former actress formally joined the British royal family.

“I never heard from her again. Never. I don't like people who behave like that. It's a little rude. “It showed me that she, I'm afraid, is probably a social climber,” the journalist said.

At the time, Samantha Grant, Meghan's half-sister, declared that becoming a princess was an ambition of the former actress: "Hollywood has changed her. I think her ambition is to become a princess... it was something she dreamed of when she was girl when we saw royalty on television.''

Royal biographer Andrew Morton also has something to say about it and that, according to him, after the divorce of Meghan and Trevor Engelson, the new mother would have reemerged as an actress.

“She was now in control of herself, she earned a steady income, she made new friends on and off stage, she no longer depended on her husband's connections. Her friends in Los Angeles noticed the change in her. She no longer had time for the peers she had known years before... a network within her reach, she seemed to be reinventing her life, forging new friendships with those who could develop her career,' she said.
