Harry is now listed simply as the Duke of Sussex. The profiles of Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were also moved to the bottom of the list.

Royal family strips Harry of HRH title on website

The royal family has removed Prince Harry's official HRH title from his website, more than three years after he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties.

This follows the decision made in January, which said that “the Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are not active members of the Royal Family.” Harry and Markle's names were also moved to the bottom of the family's home page, just above Prince Andrew.

Information about Meghan's education, career and royal engagements were also moved from the section titled 'about' to that of 'biography' and his philanthropic activities were placed in the 'charities' part of the site.

The rest of the Royal Family, including Harry, still have a biography in place. These changes occur on a regular basis, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson told the Daily Mail: “The website is regularly updated to reflect the work of members of the Royal Family,” he confirmed.

Harry and Meghan agreed to give up their titles after stepping down as senior members of the royal family in January 2020 and moving to the United States.

While it took years for the royals to remove the duke's title from their website, it had previously been removed from a Kensington Palace display showing his late mother Princess Diana's wedding dress in June 2021.

The exhibition featured a sign next to the famous dress from the 1981 wedding that read: "On loan from His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge and His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex." However, the error was corrected just a few days later and replaced with "His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex."

Harry's titles were also said to have been removed from two additional articles shared for the exhibition, The Sun reported at the time.

Harry and Meghan focus on their projects in Hollywood

However, the couple does not seem to be bothered by the change, as they have turned their attention to Hollywood following their departure from the royal family. It was recently reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are teaming up with Netflix to produce a film adaptation of writer Carley Fortune's book Meet Me at the Lake as part of their multimillion-dollar deal with the famous platform.

Netflix bought the rights to the successful book for $3 million, for the couple to produce under Archewell Productions, but neither Harry nor Markle have plans to direct or act in the film.

The novel tells the story of a couple who meet in their 30s, just as Harry and Markle did, and the story has striking similarities to their own stories. It includes themes of childhood trauma and losing a parent in a car accident, mental health issues and postpartum depression, something the former actress has spoken about publicly.
