Ryan Reynolds has been in the world of acting for almost 30 years. With a career as long and successful as his, it is not surprising that he has signed some works in which he has had a difficult time.
Recently, the actor revealed in Today that one of the strangest experiences he has had was when he participated in the South Korean show King of Mask Singer in 2018.
The interviewers have asked the actor why he decided to participate in that show, to which the actor, laughing, responded: "I've been doing this job for a long time and, when you're on an international tour, you start saying, 'What's the the strangest show we can put on?'"
Ryan Reynolds said he was promoting Deadpool 2 and was told that the show was huge in South Korea, so the actor said he wanted to go: "At the time, no Westerners had participated before, so it was a big surprise when I took off my mask."
Despite the excitement at the beginning, he assures that he did not have a good experience: "It was crazy, I was really in hell. When I was there, I thought: 'Why did I sign up to do this? This is horrible! This It's really horrible! I don't even know this song, I don't know how to do this.' It was traumatic."
In 2018, the actor apologized on the show for what he considered a poor performance, yet he was still grateful for "the opportunity to test my limits."
The international success of Mask Singer
The original version of Mask Singer comes from South Korea and when Ryan Reynolds participated in the program it was not yet known in other parts of the world.
The actor dressed in a unicorn mask and performed Tomorrow, a song from the Annie musical.
The interpreter assured that he had kept his participation so secret that he had not even told his wife Blake Lively.
Ryan Reynolds' participation in King of Mask Singer was a surprise that quickly became viral because it helped the program become known internationally and several versions of it were generated in different parts of the world.
