Behind the angelic face and sweet manner, Taylor Swift is to be feared. The darling of pop has great rivals in the music industry. She imposes fear among her colleagues, as well as ex-partners.
Her new enemy is Calvin Harris, who in recent days decided to expose Swift's "dirty" game through a flood of tweets. On social media, Harris criticized his ex-partner for taking credit for writing one of his latest hits, released in collaboration with Rihanna.
The musician was offended by the rumor that Taylor – under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg – was the true author of the song "This is What You Came For", which Harris released when they were still a couple.
The Scottish DJ and producer immediately responded on Twitter and said it was "painful that she and her team would go so far" to make him look bad.
Harris even acknowledged that his ex-girlfriend had contributed vocals to the catchy recording and that he had written the lyrics "as good as ever."
"I guess if you're happy in your new relationship, you should focus on that instead of trying to bring your ex-boyfriend down," Harris said, referring to Swift's new partner, actor Tom Hiddleston, known for the film Thor.
Finally, Harris warned him that he wasn't going to be able to "bury him like Katy (Perry)," because he wasn't going to allow it. This forceful tweet also provoked a reaction from the singer, with whom Swift has a long-standing feud that even led her to write the song "Bad Blood."
Perry tweeted an animated image of US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and a message: "Time, the best teller of truth."
The dispute between them began when Katy announced that Taylor had "stolen" the dancers who until then were participating in her tour.
Nicki Minaj also had a fight with the performer. Taylor took offense to Minaj's comment on Twitter. In this publication, the American rapper spoke about the racism that exists in the music industry.
Swift took it as an attack on her person and expressed her annoyance: "I've done nothing but support you and love you. It's not like you to make women fight against each other." Finally, Minaj explained that her post was not directed at her.
There is no doubt that the best-known rival is Kanye West. It all started at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009, when the rapper interrupted Swift's speech to say that Beyoncé deserved the award.
Demi Lovato is another celebrity who is far from being personal friends with Taylor Swift. In a recent interview with Refinery29, the star maintained that she does not believe in certain public attitudes of the "Blank Space" singer.
When she was questioned about her current situation with Swift, the former Disney girl was blunt with her words: "There are some women that I don't get along with, and that's okay."
"What I think is that you can't call yourself a feminist if you don't do the work," she said. But Lovato didn't leave it there and went further, quoting colleagues who she does believe: "I have immense respect for women like Lena Dunham and Beyoncé, who make incredible political statements through their work."
The bad relationship between these two celebrities is not something new. In February, Lovato criticized Swift for giving Kesha $250,000 to continue her legal fight with her former producer, Dr. Luke.
Swift is an open book about her private life. In one of her songs she talks about the relationship she had with fellow musician John Mayer, Jennifer Aniston's ex-boyfriend.
According to the lyrics of "Dear John," the musician broke her heart. "The nights were long when the days revolved around you," he says in one of the verses of the material that was part of the album Speak now (2010).
Mayer himself, speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, said that the issue had made him feel very bad and that he did not deserve it.
Diplo also earned Swift's hatred some time ago. Through a petition – half joking, half serious – she asked all of her followers to contribute to a collection that would go towards buying Taylor a butt. He made a serious mistake, since her life became a nightmare after the hundreds of comments he received from Swift's fans.
