Meghan Markle is a feminist and since she was eleven years old she has defended gender equality. However, in the English nobility there are still laws that discriminate against women.
According to a report by People magazine, British noble titles law indicates that if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have daughters, they will not be able to inherit their noble titles due to a gender issue.
The titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex – which were granted by Queen Elizabeth II on May 19, the day they married – can only be inherited by a male child, according to the portal and says that if they do not have male offspring, their titles will become extinct.
"I am proud to be a woman and to be a feminist," Markle said at a conference for International Women's Day at the United Nations in 2015.
Not being able to pass the title to her daughters goes against what the American preaches and defends, but in the past changes have been made regarding male and female heirs.
In 2013, the Crown Succession Law was approved, which establishes that birth order determines the order of succession to the throne regardless of s-x.
If this law had not been passed when Kate Middleton was pregnant, Princess Charlotte would have lost her place fourth in line to the crown on April 23, 2018, the day her brother, Prince Louis, was born.
