After the announcement of their separation, things begin to come to light that could have caused the decline of the relationship between both actors.
The breakup between the acting couple Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt, according to Us Weekly, may have been due to the different points of view they had on a particular topic: family.
"There was always a fight over the issue, he wanted to have children and she didn't," confessed someone close to the couple, who also reported that they really tried to stay together, although in the end they didn't succeed.
"I never thought I would reach this age without children, but my life has gone in a million directions that I never anticipated," Jon confessed in 2012 to the NYT.
The actors had decided not to marry, among other reasons, because they are both children of divorced parents and they were afraid that history would repeat itself.
The hard work hours of both and the constant parties that Hamm attended were other reasons for their separation, as another insider also confessed that Jennifer Westfeld "was tired of being like her mother."
The actors confirmed their separation to People magazine in a statement: "With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and a history together. We will continue to support each other in every way possible and move forward."
