The scene for which Emma Watson was forced to leave a shoot

Having risen to stardom as Hermione in the Harry Potter series, Emma Watson has emerged as one of the most successful child actors, surpassing even her wizardly co-star Daniel Radcliffe.

With years of experience, Watson has become a discerning professional who knows when to draw the line. This was evident during the filming of "This Is the End" in 2013, directed by Seth Rogen, where a particular scene led Watson to make a decisive choice—leaving the project altogether.

Known for his laid-back approach to filmmaking, Rogen's sets are often characterized by a casual, friendly atmosphere, with the filmmaker himself admitting to consuming a considerable amount of marijuana daily. When Watson joined the set of "This Is the End," she encountered an environment filled with laughter and a relaxed vibe. However, it wasn't the general atmosphere that prompted her departure.

The plot of "This Is the End" revolves around actors playing exaggerated versions of themselves, navigating chaos during an apocalypse. Watson had received the script for her scenes in advance, but one particular sequence involving Channing Tatum wearing a leather thong tied around the neck with a chain did not sit well with her.

Confronted with this imagery, Watson made a decision to opt out of the scene and subsequently left the filming set. While she does make brief appearances in the film, her role was intended to be more significant. In an interview with GQ, Rogen clarified that despite the incident, there was no animosity between them.

"I don't look back and think, 'How dare she? You know? I think sometimes when you read something, when you recreate it in real life, it's not like you think it's going to be," Rogen explained. He acknowledged that Watson came over the next day to bid farewell and even participated in promoting the movie. Rogen expressed satisfaction with the film's outcome, adding a touch of irony, "Maybe she was right, and the scene ended up being funnier that way."
