This was the painful reason why Eddie Murphy left acting

The decision to step away from acting was a painful one for comedy legend Eddie Murphy, a luminary in the world of cinema.

This was the painful reason why Eddie Murphy left acting

In a recent revelation, he shared the reasons behind his hiatus from the industry, shedding light on a period when he distanced himself from the limelight.

Eddie Murphy chose to take a respite from the stage after enduring harsh criticism that any actor would find deeply offensive. During a candid conversation on the WTF podcast with Matt Maron, Murphy candidly expressed his dissatisfaction with the quality of his recent films, stating, "I was making shitty movies. I was like, 'this shit ain't funny.' They're giving me Razzies...' And the sons of bitches gave me the award for worst actor of all time."

In 2010, Murphy initially intended to take a sabbatical from acting. However, as the years passed, he found himself still distanced from the industry. Reflecting on the moment that prompted his break, he confessed, "Maybe it's time to take a break," following the ironic recognition at the Golden Raspberry Awards.

Receiving an award labeled "The Worst" is an experience no Hollywood actor desires, even in jest. For Eddie Murphy, this not only caught his attention but became a catalyst for a profound reassessment of his career.

The hiatus proved to be beneficial for Murphy as he made a sharp return with the 2019 production "Dolemite," which earned him a Golden Globes nomination. Reflecting on his comeback, Murphy shared, "I was only going to take a break for a year, but then suddenly six passed, and I was sitting on the couch. And I could sit on the couch and not get off it, but I don't want the last bunch of shit you see me doing to be just shit."

Presently, Eddie Murphy is soaring back into the spotlight with the Amazon Prime Video premiere of "A Prince in New York," a sequel to the beloved 80s comedy in which he originally starred. Murphy confirmed his intention to return to Stand-Up, expressing a willingness to evaluate "how he feels" about the endeavor.
