The only thing that didn't go right for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding last May was the bride's flower arrangement. The protagonists themselves told what happened
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reveal previously unknown details of their majestic wedding in a series of interviews recorded for the "A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex" exhibit at Windsor Castle, which opened Friday and runs through January 6th.
It is the first time that the royal couple has spoken at length about their wedding, which took place at St. George's Chapel last May and was attended by major Holywood celebrities such as George and Amal Clooney, Elton John and the Beckhams.
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see up close, for example, the refined wedding dress that the Givenchy house designed for Markle on her big day.
In the voice-over interviews that accompany the exhibition, Harry reveals how he chose the beautiful piece of music that accompanied Meghan to the altar, and that he joined his wife and Queen Elizabeth II in choosing the tiara that his bride wore at the link.
"I shouldn't have been there, but it was incredible. The loan from my grandmother was very sweet," says Harry about the gesture his grandmother had with Markle by lending her one of the many jewels of the British crown.
In turn, Meghan reveals how she decided to hire Clare Waight Keller to make her wedding dress after their first meeting. "I met her and I knew, I walked back to the house and said to Harry, 'She's going to make my dress, I know it.'"
However, there was something that did not go as they expected. Before the nuptials, both Harry and Meghan planted different flowers in their garden at Kensington Palace.
"On the wedding day, Harry picked some flowers for my bouquet, which was really beautiful and something that makes it sentimental and really meaningful," Markle says. "We didn't have as many flowers in our garden as we expected because of the snow," Harry later commented, adding, "That ruined everything!"
Lady Di's youngest son wanted the bouquet to have fresh flowers from his own home.
The royal wedding exhibit also features the tiara he wore borrowed from Elizabeth II and a version of the uniform Prince Harry wore the day he left his bachelorhood.
