The publication by the Sunday newspaper 'The Mail on Sunday' of some old photos of Catherine Middleton, wife of Prince William, and her sister Pippa, in a bik-ni off the coast of Ibiza (Balearic Islands, Spain), has been the cause of protest before the Press Complaints Commission.

In turn, another Sunday newspaper, 'News of the World', published the same day a photo, taken from behind, of the now Duchess of Cambridge while she was taking off her bik-ni top, also in the waters of Ibiza.
The Commission's Code of Ethics calls it "unacceptable" to photograph individuals in private places without their consent and defines private places as "public or private property where it is reasonable to expect privacy."
Although some of those photos had been published before, they have gained new relevance due to the increased demand for photos of the wife of the second in line to the throne.
The distrust of the royal family towards the British press means that St. James's Palace has so far refused to divulge any details about the still-pending honeymoon of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
According to the newspaper 'The Times', the fact that Prince William's car was seen yesterday full of luggage on the island of Anglesey, where the new couple lives, seems to indicate that the couple were preparing to take a trip.
