Demi Moore, an iconic figure in Hollywood, recently opened up about her experiences during the 80s when she, along with fellow actors, was dubbed "The Brat Pack."
This moniker, coined for the younger actors of the era, including Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, and Mare Winningham, gained prominence through their collaboration in significant films like "The Breakfast Club" and "St. Elmo's Fire," both released in 1985.
During her appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Demi Moore shared insights into her time as part of The Brat Pack. The discussion delved into a forthcoming documentary by actor Andrew McCarthy, one of her Brat Pack peers, which explores the impact and dynamics of the group.
Moore expressed both fondness and reservations about the nickname, revealing, "I mean, it was very new to write stories about young people. I don't think any of us loved the nickname of being called brats. Because in a way, it diminished our sense of being professional."
Andrew McCarthy, known for his role in St. Elmo's Fire, has been actively delving into the Brat Pack narrative. His 2021 book, "Brat: An '80s Story by Andrew McCarthy," laid the groundwork for a documentary that seeks to unravel the multifaceted impact of the Brat Pack era.
Moore shared McCarthy's perspective, stating, "Andrew really wanted to explore the impact it had on each of us because for him, it actually had a big impact. For Rob, it just rolled off his back...I didn't love being thought of as a brat because I thought that he looked down on us as professionals. But it didn't affect me."
Highlighting McCarthy's dedication to the project, Moore referenced a recent Instagram post where he expressed excitement about his reunion with Demi Moore and their discussions about the documentary. McCarthy's post hinted at the juxtaposition of an 80s-era photo with a contemporary one, encapsulating the journey of The Brat Pack over the years.
As the documentary takes shape, Demi Moore expressed regret at not having the opportunity to watch it yet. She also lamented the absence of a reunion for the entire Brat Pack, emphasizing the desire to gather together after all these years. The forthcoming documentary promises to shed new light on the vibrant and complex relationships within The Brat Pack, adding depth to the intriguing narrative of Hollywood's iconic 80s era.
