Prompted by a neighbor's distress call after an alert from Renner's nephew, emergency responders acted swiftly, preventing a tragic outcome. The actor, known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), was rushed to the hospital, where a fellow Avenger stood by him from the very beginning.
Over a year has passed since the harrowing incident, during which Renner faced life-threatening injuries. Eight broken ribs, a damaged eye socket, a knee injury, a collapsed lung, and a perforated liver were among the severe damages, requiring extensive surgery and a year-long recovery.
Despite the physical toll, Renner has gradually returned to the public eye, appearing on red carpets with the aid of a cane and sharing emotional interviews detailing the profound impact of the accident, admitting to having written what he thought might be his last words to his family.

Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans were the first to get inked in New York, and Downey hosted the same artist to tattoo Renner, Chris Hemsworth, and himself.
