Lenny Kravitz has opened up about the relationship he has with his ex Lisa Bonet, Zoe Kravitz's mother, and how they remain a united family full of love and feeling.
Lisa Bonet's life has been marked by two very important relationships. First it was with Lenny Kravitz, father of her daughter Zoe, and then with Jason Momoa, whom she just divorced after 16 years together and two children together, Lola Iolani and Nakoa-Wolf.
Now, Lenny Kravitz, who is excited about Zoe Kravitz's commitment to Channing Tatum, wanted to open up about what his relationship is like with Lisa Bonet, from whom he separated in 1993 after marrying in 1987.
"Love doesn't leave you, but it has to find a new way to channel itself into a new life. We wanted to do that consciously. It took time, believe me, but she is a part of my life that will never leave my heart, my soul or my spirit "I am what I am thanks to our experience," he explains to People about what Lisa meant to him and what she is today.
It was at a New Edition concert in 1985 when they met. There love arose before Lenny became the musical star he is today: "I moved in with Lisa, I brought my instruments and things, but somehow I forgot my comb. I never planned to be afraid, but after a few months "My hair was getting tangled. Lisa said, 'Leave it like that. It looks good,'" he says of the look that marked him.
"It wasn't planned, Oh, this is s--y. I was just living and doing. I was married to the most beautiful woman on the planet, amazing inside and out, and I wasn't paying attention to that. I was paying attention to the music," be honest.
To finish, remembering that stage with great affection: "We were a whole family. We had our own rhythm, expression and fashion. It was a beautiful time. The world that Zoe's mother and I were creating, our family, was about peace, love and spirit."
