Travis Kelce, the renowned tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, isn't immune to the financial strain that comes with hosting family and friends at the 2024 Super Bowl.
Despite his reported net worth of $30 million, Kelce humorously admitted to closely monitoring his expenses for the extravagant event during a recent episode of the "New Heights" podcast, co-hosted with his brother, Jason Kelce. "I'm not really doing much different other than just counting how much money I'm spending on this damn Super Bowl for family and friends to come," he quipped.
The escalating costs associated with the Super Bowl and its VIP suites have become a hot topic among players' families in recent weeks. Lisa McCaffrey, mother of San Francisco 49ers player Christian McCaffrey, candidly expressed on her podcast, "Your Mom," that the exorbitant prices rendered VIP suites unaffordable for their family.
"We looked into a suite and none of us can afford it," she disclosed, noting that not even her son, dubbed "money bags" by Lisa, could foot the bill.
Lisa McCaffrey revealed her strategy of negotiating a reserved area with eight tickets to witness her son's game against the Chiefs, bypassing the astronomical costs of VIP suites. She explained that Christian's closest friends would watch the game from a nearby bar, opting for a more budget-friendly approach amidst the Super Bowl frenzy.
"Long story short, they are outrageously expensive. I don't know if it's the Taylor Swift Factor or the first time in Vegas Factor; there is just so much going on," Lisa remarked.
Travis's mother, Donna Kelce, echoed similar sentiments regarding the steep prices of VIP suites in Las Vegas, where the Super Bowl is being held. "You can understand that the boxes in Vegas are multi-million dollars, so I have a feeling I'm not in a box," she shared during an appearance on the Today Show.
Despite Travis's financial status and celebrity connections, both he and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, 34, who have been dating since last summer, seem to navigate the Super Bowl hoopla with a dose of humor and practicality.
