For a long time, the 35-year-old actress decided that she would not do Love scenes, until she changed her mind.
Emma Stone is one of the most acclaimed actresses in the industry. The actress is preparing to go for her second Oscar for her magnificent performance as Bella Baxter in the film Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos. But one of the aspects that has caught the attention of fans the most regarding the performance has to do with the film's Love scenes, which show the actress in a way never seen before.
The truth is that from the beginning of her career, Stone had great reservations about getting N- on screen. Since she took her first steps in acting, Emma made the decision to avoid undressing for her roles.
Among the reasons that led her to this choice is the fear of her parents' reaction. According to the actress, her father would "kill her" and not "talk to her anymore" if she dared to show herself without clothes in a movie.
But just like many other celebrities, Stone has also been under a lot of scrutiny when it comes to her physique. At times, the La La Land actress admitted that the comments they read about her body affected her to a certain extent, even to the point of realizing that she does not represent a good example for her younger fans.
“I firmly believe that nothing really affects you or can bother you if you don't feel that way about yourself. I've seen a lot of comments saying, 'Eat a sandwich' or 'She looks sick.' "I've looked in the mirror and been mean to myself," Stone said.
"The important thing is that people have the right to imagine whatever they want to imagine. My job in those moments is to tell myself the truth. Am I taking care of myself in a healthy way? Do I respect myself and am I responsible? And again and again, I answer affirmatively to that question,” he stated.
Despite her convictions, Stone decided to change her mind in recent years. When she starred in The Favorite alongside Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz, the Oscar winner asked director Yorgos Lanthimos to do a scene in which her character was without clothes, because it would benefit her character's situation. Faced with this request, Lanthimos asked her if she was sure she wanted to do it, to which she Stone agreed.
Something similar happens with Poor Creatures, where much of the film shows Bella Baxter exploring her awakening, so the protagonist was required to be without clothes and have an encounters with other characters. Faced with this, Emma Stone, who in addition to starring and also serves as executive producer, always agreed that the N- of her character was necessary to be able to tell the story as it should.
