Haron firmly refuted claims of heavy editing on Meghan Markle in Prince Harry's 2021 pregnancy announcement. Despite this, a Daily Mail article alleged Haron's admission to manipulating the portrait. In a video on Wednesday, March 13th, Haron addressed these accusations, expressing disbelief at claims of swapping trees and meadows.

He referred to an episode of the podcast "Private Passions" where he supposedly confessed to such alterations. The Daily Mail had previously reported on Haron discussing the portrait session in a 2022 BBC Radio 3 podcast, suggesting discrepancies regarding the setting under which the photo was taken.

Contrary to the allegations, Haron maintained that the original photo depicted Meghan lying on the ground beside Harry, naturally cradling her baby bump as he smiled. He emphasized his confusion over how a podcast conversation could be misconstrued as an admission of guilt, particularly regarding the addition of elements like trees.

Haron clarified that mentions of meadows and willow trees originated from the interviewer, not from his statements. Despite defending his integrity, Haron faced mounting evidence, including Getty Images' acknowledgment of digital enhancements to the image.

Critics pointed out a perceived double standard in the handling of Haron's work compared to others. While Getty Images acknowledged enhancements, no significant action was taken. Meanwhile, similar scrutiny resulted in a "kill order" on another photographer's work.

The Sussex Squad's reaction varied, with some advocating for legal action against The Daily Mail, while others questioned Haron's integrity. Haron's attempt to distance himself from the original photograph fueled speculation, with long-standing rumors of tree manipulation resurfacing.

In light of these developments, the controversy surrounding Haron's work underscores broader issues of accountability and transparency in media representation.
