Along with Jamie Lee Curtis, James Cameron and Harrison Ford, the actress and pop artist is one of those chosen to receive one of the most important awards from Diseny.
It was announced who will be the artists who will receive the Disney Legends award this 2024. Jamie Lee Curtis, Harrison Ford and James Cameron are some of the names but the one that has attracted the most attention is Miley Cyrus, who will become the most young man to receive the distinction.
The Disney Legends Awards are a recognition given by The Walt Disney Company to individuals who have made significant contributions to the company over the years. These awards were created in 1987 and are presented during the D23 Expo, the event organized by Disney for its fans. Honorees are usually prominent personalities in the entertainment industry, such as actors, animators, composers, directors, and other professionals whose work has left a mark on Disney history.
At only 31 years old, Miley Cyrus will be the youngest in the history of the awards to take it home. The decision makes sense, of course, because in recent years there has been no face that will represent the company more distinctive than that of the singer. Additionally, Miley becomes the first member of her generation (children of the early 2000s) to be honored.
Miley Cyrus began her Disney career in 2006, at age 13, when she was chosen to play the lead role in the hit Disney Channel series, Hannah Montana. The show became a phenomenon and was the one that launched Cyrus to international fame. In addition, the young artist also participated in the show's soundtrack, which included several popular songs performed by herself.
Other personalities who will lift the mouse trophy originally designed by sculptor Andrea Favilli are Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis, whose most recognized participation in Disney was in the film Crazy Friday with Lindsay Lohan (2003). Angela Bassett also appears on the Marvel side having been part of Black Panther with her spectacular interpretation of Queen Ramonda and Harrison Ford, eternal Indiana Jones, is also part of the list. Other giant artists who will be part of the 2024 list are composer John Williams, recognized for some of the most iconic soundtracks in history, and director James Cameron.
In addition to the stars recognized by everyone, the awards are given to other industry professionals who work behind the scenes: costume designer Collen Atwood will be honored along with animator Mark Henn, publicist Steve Ditki, director and puppeteer Frank Oz (known for playing several characters on The Muppet Show and Yoda Star Wars), host Kelly Ripa, director and screenwriter James L. Brooks, imagineering Joe Rohde and former Disneyland manager Martha Blanding. These last two represent the Disney parks.
