The official Suits account on X has recently confirmed the exciting news of a spin-off series.
However, the question on everyone's mind remains unanswered: Will Meghan Markle return to reprise her role in the original cast? On Tuesday, the account retweeted an article from Variety, published in February, which initially announced that Suits LA had received a pilot order. In response, the official account tweeted, "We are so back," hinting at the success of the pilot order and the official approval of the series.
The forthcoming offshoot, Suits LA, is scheduled to commence shooting its pilot in April, as per Star Lex Scott Davis. This new series will introduce a fresh ensemble of characters, led by former New York Federal prosecutor Ted Black, portrayed by Steven AML. Black has reinvented himself as a representative for the most influential clients in Los Angeles. However, fans are left speculating about the involvement of any original cast members, including Meghan, as they have not received invitations to return.
According to the retweeted article by the series's account, former Suits star Rachel Harris confirmed that the original cast had not been invited to star in the California-based spin-off. Rachel, who previously portrayed the role of Sheila S in the legal drama, expressed her anticipation about working on Suits LA but clarified that none of the previous cast members would be involved. Recounting a conversation with Suits creator Aaron Korsh, Rachel disclosed that Meghan was not mentioned at all. She emphasized that discussions about Meghan were avoided as it was deemed disrespectful, considering her other commitments. Rachel surmised that Meghan's potential return would overshadow the show, given her elevated status, and suggested that her character in Suits was not pivotal.
Speculations about Meghan's possible return to Suits surged following comments made by her onscreen husband, Patrick J. Adams, who portrayed Mike Ross. Speaking at the Golden Globe Awards in January, Adams hinted at the possibility of their return to the spin-off series. Expressing enthusiasm, he remarked, "Yes, yes, let's go! I'll do it. Yeah, I'm ready. Mike and Rachel in Seattle." He praised Meghan's acting prowess and expressed a willingness to have her back.
Since bidding farewell to Suits in the finale, where her character Rachel married Michael James Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams, and relocated to Seattle, Meghan has primarily focused on her ventures outside of acting, notably her involvement in the Sussexes' documentary series. However, a return to acting seems unlikely at present.
