A royal expert asserts that Meghan Markle has made efforts to offer support to Princess Catherine through discreet channels.
Tom Quinn, an author familiar with the sc--dals of the royal palace, informed The Mirror that Meghan has reached out to Kensington Palace on several occasions through back channels, aiming to establish a connection with the Princess of Wales. This outreach is partly fueled by Meghan's genuine concern for Kate's well-being, but it also presents an opportunity for her to reshape her public image, which has been marred by tensions with the royal family.
Quinn suggests that while Catherine would likely graciously acknowledge Meghan's overtures to avoid appearing dismissive, there are reservations within Kensington Palace about welcoming these attempts, fearing they may reopen old wounds.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jenny Bond expressed skepticism regarding the appropriateness of Meghan's alleged support, questioning whether Meghan, who had a brief stint in the royal fold, is qualified to offer advice or support to Catherine. Bond emphasized that this period is crucial for Catherine to focus on her physical and mental recovery, suggesting that addressing family rifts might not be a priority at this juncture. However, Bond noted that gestures like sending flowers or gifts from Meghan would likely be politely accepted.
Despite these alleged attempts at reconciliation, doubts linger regarding Meghan's sincerity, with many believing that Meghan should refrain from any further back-channel communications, especially concerning Catherine. Concerns have been raised by Prince William, who reportedly decided not to allow any flowers or gifts for Catherine from Harry and Meghan. This decision is not merely due to current health guidelines discouraging flowers in hospitals but also stems from William's apprehension about Meghan potentially seeking publicity through such gestures, given her past behavior of exploiting situations for attention.
Prince William's caution is further underscored by concerns about Meghan's past actions, including an incident where Princess Charlotte had an allergic reaction to flowers arranged by Meghan. This, coupled with Meghan's perceived mistreatment of Charlotte, has led William and Catherine to maintain a distance from Meghan. Given Meghan's track record, Prince William's firm stance on this matter seems justified.

This marks Catherine's first public appearance since undergoing planned abdominal surgery in January.
