Angelina Jolie's legal team asserts that Brad Pitt's mistreatment of the actress began long before the widely-publicized 2016 plane incident, which sparked their high-profile divorce proceedings.
Allegations have surfaced, indicating that Pitt subjected Jolie to physical abuse prior to the tumultuous plane journey, ultimately leading to her decision to initiate divorce proceedings against the actor.
Following their official divorce in 2019, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have found themselves embroiled in a series of legal disputes. Among these, a notable contention revolves around Chateau Miraval, a renowned French winery in which both parties have vested interests.
Amidst this legal battle, on April 4th, the legal representatives of the actress filed a motion seeking the disclosure of communications purported to demonstrate that Pitt imposed stringent confidentiality terms on Jolie, hindering her attempts to sell her stake in the winery. These communications are alleged to reveal Pitt's insistence on a confidentiality agreement characterized as excessively burdensome by Jolie's legal team.
Newly unearthed documents, as reported by People magazine, assert that Pitt's mistreatment of Jolie predates the 2016 plane incident. The documents claim, "Although Pitt's history of mistreatment of Jolie began long before the plane trip family in September 2016 from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he directed his physical abuse at his children. Afterwards, Jolie immediately left him."
Despite an FBI investigation into the incident, which failed to result in charges against Pitt, the former couple continues to share custody of their six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 17, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 15.
A close associate of the 60-year-old star has denounced these assertions as part of a recurring pattern of behavior, aimed at deflecting attention. They state, "Every time there is a decision that goes against the other party, they constantly choose to introduce misleading, inaccurate and/or irrelevant information as a distraction."
Moreover, a prolonged custody trial, scrutinizing the entirety of their relationship, resulted in a judge granting each parent 50/50 custody, underscoring the complexity of the situation.
Brad Pitt's legal representatives argue that the ongoing winery lawsuit could have been averted had Pitt accepted Jolie's initial offer to buy out her share. However, they contend that Pitt insisted on a confidentiality agreement, purportedly to safeguard against the potential disclosure of sensitive information pertaining to their custody battle.
Detailing Pitt's concerns, his legal team highlights the contents of Jolie's sealed filing, which included emails, family testimonies, and other evidence, which could potentially jeopardize Pitt's reputation if made public. Consequently, Pitt sought to bind Jolie to silence regarding his alleged personal misconduct, irrespective of its connection to Miraval.
As legal battles persist, their children appear to be taking sides, with one of their daughters making a surprising decision. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt's romantic relationship with Inés de Ramón continues to evolve, reportedly culminating in cohabitation.
