The singer and widow of the legendary Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love, harshly criticized the musical proposal of one of the most important female artists in the world, Taylor Swift, and compared her to a singer she openly hates.
During an interview with the British media The Standard, Love struck down the singer originally from Pennsylvania, whom she did not hesitate to compare with Madonna after saying that she does not find her music transcendental.
“Taylor is not important. “She may be a safe space for girls, and she is probably the modern-day Madonna, but she is not at all interesting as an artist,” Courtney Love maintained.
Kurt Cobain's widow also made it clear that she does not like Madonna, something that the singer, born in California, assumes is reciprocal, although she acknowledged that she likes the occasional song by the Queen of Pop. During the interview, conducted to present a new podcast in which Courtney Love talks about outstanding women in music, among whom PJ Harvey and Patti Smith stand out, she also criticized two other important female artists.
“Now every successful woman is cloned, so there is too much music. They are exactly the same. I mean, I love the idea of Beyoncé making a country record because it's about black women going into spaces where only white women were allowed before. As a concept, I like it, I just don't like her music,” she noted.
Although she made it quite clear that Lana del Rey is not one of her favorite performers, Love said that she stopped listening to her more for the reason of avoiding copying her than for the fact of not liking her.
“I haven't liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song and I think she should really stay away from her for about seven years. At least until 'Take Me Home Country Roads' she thought she was cool. When she was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her because she was influencing me a lot,” she concluded.
