The Argentine queen has been planning this change for a long time
Máxima de Holland's house experiences a significant change with the permanent arrival of her mother, Carmen Cerruti, a long-cherished desire for the Argentine. After residing for a few seasons in Huis ten Bosch, Máxima's mother now settles in with her daughter and her granddaughters, thus fulfilling the queen's wish.
The new home is not short on space, since the palace covers around 9,000 square meters, distributed in official and private areas for the royal family. According to Dutch and German media reports, Máxima herself would have insisted that her mother settle down permanently with her.
This resolution brings great relief to the queen, who had been worried about her mother, who lived alone in Buenos Aires while her children were scattered around the world. The death of Máxima's younger sister, Inés Zorreguieta, intensified her desire to have her mother close to her, prompting her frequent trips to the Netherlands.
Although it is unknown if this move will generate controversy as happened four years ago, when travel restrictions during the pandemic kept Carmen in Huis ten Bosch for longer than expected. Then, the appropriateness of the queen's mother making use of an official building was questioned.
