According to royal expert Tom Quinn, Prince Harry is actively seeking a secluded house near his father, King Charles III, for his family to stay in during their visits to the UK.
This move aims to facilitate a relationship between his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and their cousins and grandfather. Reports from The Mirror suggest that King Charles III wishes to spend more time with his grandchildren, leading to speculation that Prince Harry is house hunting in the UK. Quinn suggests that Harry might be considering establishing a new UK base for his family; however, this endeavor could be fraught with challenges.
Quinn stated that Harry has spent considerable time figuring out what kind of UK residence he might establish. Having no experience living in anything other than well-protected houses far from the public eye, he faces significant obstacles. Each house he considers has its drawbacks. Furthermore, Quinn noted that Harry struggles to find a property offering the same level of privacy as Frogmore Cottage. Beyond the security risks, Harry has become increasingly obsessed with his privacy and desires a location far from prying eyes. This obsession was a primary reason for his anger and upset when King Charles evicted him from Frogmore Cottage. Frogmore, a substantial house deep within the Royal Estate at Windsor, was very secure and would have been ideal. Harry never fully considered that relinquishing his role as a working royal meant losing the house. He has always been somewhat naive in this regard.
Quinn mentioned that Harry hopes to find a property similar to his father's Highgrove estate. With no chance of returning to any houses gifted by his family, Harry has looked into purchasing a secluded Georgian house with its own grounds, akin to Highgrove in Gloucestershire. However, Quinn believes the cost of security in the UK could be a significant obstacle for Harry. The major issue is that Harry does not want to pay for security, yet he is convinced that substantial security measures are necessary, even if the house is near his father's home.
On the other hand, buying a house close to his father would allow Harry to visit the UK for short periods with his children, helping them maintain relationships with their cousins and grandfather. Reading between the lines, it seems Harry and Meghan might be signaling a willingness to mend broken relationships. They might even hope that King Charles will offer them Frogmore Cottage back or a similar grace-and-favor home. Some speculate that their interest in being close to the family is more about seeking financial support. They might want to secure a UK property to compensate for the lack of police protection and to reestablish their royal credentials.
Critics argue that Harry expects his father to offer a house and security to enable his children to know him, viewing this as manipulative. They believe the motivation is primarily financial. If King Charles does not know his grandchildren well, they might not receive a substantial inheritance. Regarding the children's relationship with their cousins, there is skepticism about who would want to interact with them, especially with Meghan around, as any interaction could potentially be leaked to the press. Many think Harry and Meghan are delusional if they believe they can return after causing so much harm and pain. While King Charles might feel differently because Harry is his son, others, especially William and Catherine, may not be as forgiving.
