Harry Kane humorously remarked that the England men's football team's nutritionist might not be thrilled after hearing Prince Louis's advice to the players.
The six-year-old suggested they should eat twice as much as usual in preparation for Euro 2024. This lighthearted advice was conveyed through his father, Prince William, the Prince of Wales, who visited the team at St. George's Park in Burton-on-Trent this morning ahead of their departure for Germany.
Prince William, who serves as the president of the Football Association (FA), engaged in a team-building discussion where he shared insights from his children. During the drive to school, he asked his children what message he should deliver to the England team. He recounted, "I was on the school run this morning and asked the kids what I should say to the England team today.
The best piece of advice came from my youngest, who suggested you should eat twice as much as usual. I had this amusing vision of you all running around with huge tummies and suffering from stitches on the pitch. So, perhaps take my youngest’s advice with a grain of salt, especially concerning the physio team."
Kane responded to the comments with a chuckle, acknowledging, "I know we need to be careful with that. The nutritionist probably wasn't too happy with that suggestion, but it's wonderful to have the prince here. He's a tremendous supporter of ours and has visited us at a few camps before major tournaments, which gives us extra motivation."
During the visit, William was welcomed by Mark Bullingham, the chief executive of the FA, before meeting with England manager Gareth Southgate and England technical director John McDermott. The visit was a surprise to the players, who were not informed in advance. The team was shown a video revealing the squad lineup before Prince William addressed them with a motivational speech. He mentioned that he had watched each of them play throughout the season and praised their performance on the field.
