Justin Timberlake was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) in Sag Harbor.
The incident occurred in the Hamptons after he allegedly ran a stop sign and swerved out of his lane. The 43-year-old "SexyBack" singer was pulled over on Monday night and charged with DWI, running a stop sign, and failure to maintain his lane, according to TMZ. Timberlake, who was wearing a black baseball cap, gray graphic t-shirt, and black short-sleeve button-up shirt, appeared in court on Tuesday and was released without bail.
Sources informed Page Six that Timberlake had been partying with friends at the American Hotel on Main Street before the incident. As he left the hotel and almost immediately ran a stop sign, police, who were stationed outside the venue, pulled him over for the traffic violation. Timberlake continued driving but was stopped again after swerving out of his lane.
TMZ reported that Timberlake failed a field sobriety test, which included the one-leg stand and walk-and-turn exercises. Sources also mentioned that he appeared glassy-eyed and smelled of alcohol but refused to take a breathalyzer test. Friends of the singer attempted to persuade officers to release him, but Timberlake was ultimately handcuffed and taken into custody.
Court documents reveal that Timberlake’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 26th. Police and court officials did not respond to requests for comments. Sources told TMZ that the incident was captured on body cam footage.
Timberlake, often referred to as the "Prince of Pop," has been on his "Forget Tomorrow World Tour" since April. He has upcoming concert dates next week in New York City, where he is set to perform at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday and Wednesday. Additionally, he has shows scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Chicago's United Center.
