Prince Harry firm in his decision, explains why he will not return to Meghan Markle

Prince Harry has strongly expressed his decision not to return to the UK with his wife, Meghan Markle, citing security concerns. In a recent interview for the ITV documentary "Tabloids on Trial," the Duke of Sussex shared his fears about the threats they would face in his homeland.

"He's still dangerous and all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads these things and acts on them," Harry said. "And whether it's a knife or acid, whatever, those are things that genuinely worry me. It's one of the reasons I'm not bringing my wife back to this country."

These statements come after it was revealed in 2022 that the former head of counterterrorism of the Metropolitan Police, Neil Basu, confirmed that there were real threats to the life of the prince's wife, the Duchess of Sussex while she lived in the United Kingdom. Basu said these threats were investigated and some people were prosecuted.

Additionally, in 2022 it emerged that Harry asked the UK government to provide him with additional protections when he and his family traveled to his homeland. However, he and Markle were stripped of their security detail when they stepped down as senior members of the royal family.

Although Prince Harry offered to cover the security costs, his offer was rejected. Recently, a High Court judge upheld the decision to reduce the prince's security. Harry's lawyers argued that he and his family needed more protection because of "well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats."

Despite this decision, Harry has expressed that he plans to appeal. "The duke is not asking for preferential treatment, but for a fair and lawful application of RAVEC's own rules, ensuring that he receives the same consideration as others in accordance with RAVEC's own written policy," a legal spokesperson said.
