The actress and ex-wife of the actor hinted that the actor would no longer be at home but would be living in a safe space with specialists to cope with the disease that afflicts him.
At the beginning of 2022, Bruce Willis' family, including his ex-wife, Demi Moore, announced through a press release that the reason behind the actor's surprise retirement was due to a diagnosis of aphasia, a speech disorder that can be caused by a stroke (cerebrovascular accident) or trauma. Although at that time the situation seemed reversible, after a year of studies and treatment, it was confirmed that the actor suffered from frontotemporal dementia, an irreversible neurocognitive disorder.
Almost two years after the diagnosis that surprised Hollywood, Demi Moore revealed new details about the health of her ex and father of her three daughters: Rumer, Scout LaRue and Tallulah Belle; during her visit to The Drew Barrymore Show.
“Given the circumstances, he is in a stable place,” she said, implying that Bruce Willis would no longer be at home but in a safe space surrounded by specialists in the field to help him cope with his new condition.
And she added: “What I tell my daughters is to meet him where he is, not to cling to who he was or what they want him to be, but to who he is at this moment. And from there, there is so much beauty, joy, love and sweetness. When I am in Los Angeles, I go every week and I really value the time we all share.”
It should be noted that, during 2023, Willis' current wife, Emma Heming, was in charge of the actor's care after having turned to Teepa Snow, a dementia specialist, to be able to learn everything about the disorder and be able to take care of him themselves.
"She has done an absolutely remarkable job of providing the right support for Bruce as his abilities have changed and they have created a place, a space and a life that continues to provide him with what he needs to live well. Apparently, the situation would have become quite complicated in recent times so that Bruce Willis would have needed professional care, which is why he could have been transferred in recent months to a space dedicated to treating this type of disorder.
