Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly making significant decisions regarding the future of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in light of recent developments in the United States.
Concerns have been raised about the implications of Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, prompting the couple to reassess their family’s situation. According to royal expert Jennie Bond, the former senior royals, who reside in Montecito, California, are apprehensive about how the political shift might impact their family. Despite these concerns, Bond suggests that Harry and Meghan are unlikely to leave the United States immediately. Speaking to OK! via GB News, Bond emphasized the importance of stability for Archie and Lilibet, who have become well-adjusted to their Californian lifestyle.
“They seem very happy in their Californian lifestyle,” Bond remarked. “I’m sure they don’t want to unsettle their children unnecessarily. My guess is that they will let the dust settle and see how things pan out before making any major moves.”
While the couple appears committed to their life in the U.S., they have reportedly secured a property in Portugal as a contingency plan. Bond revealed that the residence, described as much more than a "bolt hole," might have been sourced with the help of Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank.
“It’s undoubtedly a very beautiful property,” Bond stated. “If things get tricky or uncomfortable in the States, Europe could become a more frequent destination for Harry, Meghan, and their children.”
These revelations come amid claims that Harry and Meghan have publicly distanced themselves from the British royal family. The couple did not issue a public acknowledgment of King Charles’ 76th birthday on November 14, marking his first since his cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Their silence has fueled accusations of a deliberate snub, highlighting ongoing tensions between the Sussexes and the monarchy.
Despite the speculated rift, Harry and Meghan’s decisions seem primarily focused on providing a secure and stable environment for their children. As the couple continues to navigate life outside the royal institution, balancing personal values with external pressures remains a complex endeavor.
